VOW: 4 Uses of Video on LinkedIn
This week in our LinkedIn Video Series I examined the 4 different places you can post video on LinkedIn and top tips for each one. I am intending to use 2 of the 4 regularly in my business. Watch the full video to decide which of the 4 video uses best match your business and LinkedIn plans.
See you next time,
Niamh
Thanks for this summary, Niamh. I haven’t posted video as an update, but I have included a couple videos in my profile. I liked the suggestion to post a descriptive video in the profile.
LinkedIn does let you record directly into an update post from the LinkedIn app. It is not live video, but it posts directly upon completion. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m not sure if you can do any editing such as trimming. I have seen other people’s videos recorded this way and some are good and many are poor (wrong orientation of the camera, bad lighting, etc.). The best ones tend to be people sitting at their desks telling about something they have coming up (a webinar, a seminar, etc.).
Just thought I’d share that as an additional way to get video onto LinkedIn.
Yes, I am definitely going to try it. I like the idea of being able to do it on the fly. 🙂
Hi, Niamh, I’m wondering if you know what LinkedIn things of putting Facebook links (calls to actions) there. I’m thinking of announcing my upcoming Desk Posture Challenge via video plus in updates on my profile and in LinkedIn groups, etc. From what you say, I’ll for sure upload the video with the CTA naively onto LI. Any other ideas? Thanks!
I think it makes sense with an announcement to do it natively on the platform. That way you can say hello to your LinkedIn following and make it feel more personal.
I love the idea of uploading a video about a past position and using it as a way to share how the experience has contributed to what you are doing now.
My friend Terra Milo gave me that idea. I really love it as a way to stand out and really make your profile shine.
I liked this video a lot. LinkedIn is a new platform to me and I was not sure how to start to tackle it but now, since you mentioned the ways I could incorporate video, I look forward to doing my profile! Incidentally, my super tripod arrived today – perfect timing. I am planning on doing a video in the profile, perhaps in the job description sections, and will use it for announcement of a new thing coming up in updates.
Fantastic!
This was extremely useful information. Thank you!
Thanks Nicole! 🙂
Thank you for this! I really like the idea of posting a video to a past position about how it contributed to what you are doing now. That’s genius! I already have an intro video on my profile. 🙂 I haven’t posted a video update, yet, because I fell out of the habit. 🙁 Gotta get back on the horse!
My friend Terra Milo gave me that suggestion. Such a good one. I probably won’t update regularly beyond sharing YouTube videos once I’ve done all my experimenting. It’s all about if this is a good place for you and your audience.
